An Ancient Ayurvedic Tradition

Derived from Sanskrit, Shata Dhauta Ghrita translates to "100-times-washed ghee" (Shata meaning "hundred," Dhauta meaning "washed," and Ghrita meaning "ghee"). This traditional Ayurvedic preparation has been used in India for centuries.

According to Ayurvedic tradition and references found in classical texts such as the Charaka Samhita, Shata Dhauta Ghrita is prepared by repeatedly washing pure cow ghee, traditionally in a copper vessel. This process transforms the texture of the ghee into a smooth, creamy preparation commonly used in personal care applications.

Shipping Note

Our washed ghee is packed cool and ships separately. Orders are typically shipped on Mondays or Tuesdays via USPS Priority Mail.

If the cooling pack is no longer cold upon arrival, the product is generally unaffected by brief exposure to warm temperatures during transit. We recommend removing the container from the shipping materials as soon as it arrives and refrigerating it overnight before opening.
